Eat My Words

Annie Nichols at The Barbican Center

Eat My Words is a light and sound installation that explores the relationship between food and memory. The installation was created by artist Annie Nichols, who commissioned Planarama to bring her project to life for an exhibition at The Barbican Centre during a residency at Fish Island Labs from Hackney Wick, East London.

The installation features a reconstruction of Nichols' kitchen, where the cake was baked, as well as a digital map of the cake's journey from ingredient to finished product. Visitors to the installation will be able to explore the different elements of the cake-making process, and learn about the memories and experiences that inspired the project.

Sound artist Christin Rauter recorded the sounds, of Nichols preparing, making and baking the Victoria Sponge cake, which you can eat freshly at the installation.
