Planarama partnered with The Barbican Centre and Lora Avedian for their Winter/Christmas display within their gift shop and foyer area. Lora Avedian creates beautiful line drawings and tapestries which have a stunning naivety to them that made it a very intriguing project to work on. The drawings which Lora provided where simple but so effective which is where Planarama comes in, we took the drawings an scaled them up to great sizes to be displayed proudly throughout the Barbican.

Above the gift shop we produced an Aubergine coloured wreath from dyed rope and a golden metal frame, the wreath complete was in the shape of delicate leaves - Lora asked us to ensure that we keep the naive sense of her work and it works so well! Alongside the main wreath we recreated some of her drawings in a golden brushed vinyl backed onto foam board, they where adorned with dyed berry detailing to tie the whole scheme together.

In the main foyer area we recreated the sense of what you would see when you enter The Barbican Centre but on a grander scale, enlarging the wreath even further to 2.5m in diameter we dyed the rope green and attached this to the balcony at the end of the foyer. Displayed above the aisle of the foyer we hung golden cut to shape leaves some with dyed berry details. Giving the visitors to the centre the grandest of entrances and exits!
